Peeder Jigson

Here's the first part of the thrilling video diary by Peeder Jigson, director of forthcoming spodfest, "The Hobbit".

You might think that Jigson bears an uncanny resemblance to TV's James Bachman but I assure you it's just one of those cosmic coincidences.

Meanwhile I have been  laid up in bed over the entire Xmas season and the lurgy shows no signs of abating. Pity me.

Kicking the Hobbit

I have been entrusted with chronicling the making of The Hobbit (well, sort of. You'll see). So have been back in the digital foundry labouring over this logo:

Check out the hot elven rune action!

The Lincoln Tiger

Here's Steve "Lincoln Films" Oram...

... and here is his latest minimalist masterpiece "The Lincoln Tiger". You may recognise the titular solitary cat.

Rocketman

No directing at the mo but...

Making a rocket with "CUBS" written on the side for director John "Bigface" Hopkins for his CBBC stuff.

Scientologically-fragilistic-expialidocious

Here's the finished  Scientology sketch that all those mysterious space ships and pictures of Wormwood Scrubs were leading up to. It's for C4's This Just In site.

That's Suzy Kane and Mike Wozniak being brilliant of course.

Thanks to all the lovely people at Zeppotron for making it happen.

Tuesday 16 November 2010

Boards

These insane scrawlings are actually the boards for the forthcoming Scientology sketch for the C4 website (it's almost finished, fans of stuff that's finished) ...

If I amass enough of these I can pin them to my walls and hire my flat out as a location to Hollywood types for "serial killer's lair"

Note pressing production questions such as: can we clear images of Travolta in Battlefield Earth?

The answer was "no" by the way.

Boxes

It's like a poverty row version of the last scene from Citizen Kane but it's actually me moving flat.

That's why things have been a tad slow round these parts BUT I did find time to film on Wormwood Scrubs and in a makeshift lab.

As well as hastily construct this prop using the patented "that'll do" technique.

Which means more stuff should be here come mid November.

Shipbuilding

Looks like this spaceship thing is a goer so best get on with these:

When the geeky self-loathing gets to suicide levels I just watch these guys for a couple of minutes and I feel better about myself.

Spaceshit

This spaceship may look like it's designed by a blind man with parkinsons in a hurry but a) the project is not officially "go" yet so I can always tweak it later and b) it'll only whizz by in the background anyway.

Tiny Things

A miniature Milky Way...

A Ukulele...

A crude drawing of a tiny hairy man...

A selection of tiny fish...

It can mean only one thing. But what?

Watch this space.

If Ships Were Made...

You wait for one possible commission involving spaceships to come along and then three come along at once. Well, two anyway. Which is why I've been sketching these:

Mental note : learn to draw.

Going On ... Part the Third

Here it is:

Parts 1 and 2 are here and here

Saturday 9 October 2010

Nerds Arise

Getting my head around mind mangling motion tracking program Icarus.

Now, as you surely know, Icarus obtains and calibrates camera information from a 2d source and exports it for full integration with a 3d program and or compositing program. Or some such spoddy nonsense.

If that means nothing to you, congratulations: you have a life.

Basically it stops the computery 3d bit (the Lord Tunley logo) from drunkenly wandering around the footage and so makes it look more a part of the scene.

Nice.

Le Dream

In the parallel universe where I act in stuff I once appeared in this:

That's John Hopkins and Barunka O'Shaughnessy as well. Directed by Mr Wheatley.

Sunday 3 October 2010

B3tan to it.

Still trying to learn photoshop which for some reason along with long division and the clarinet I have never got round to learning and find massively bewilderising.

So: Entering the visual punathon that is the B3ta Image Challenge whenever I get a chance. Got half way thru this:

...when I realised another B3tan had got there first:

Going On Goes On

Here's part 2 of the little mini pilot we shot a while ago...

Part one is down here of course.

Wednesday 29 September 2010

Hunch

A quick poke in your ribs to push you in the direction of this...

... the all too probably brilliant (I saw an earlier version and even that was ace) sketch show by the annoyingly talented Phil Brodie.

I helped with some of the techy stuff if that helps. If not it also features previous Lord Tunley collaborators Zoe Gardner and Kerry Gilbert.

It's at the Jermyn Street Theatre in London's Picadilly on Monday 11th at 7.30pm.

See you there.

Monday 27 September 2010

Plane Stoopid

I'll just leave this here and tip toe away as though it's nothing to do with me.

Wednesday 22 September 2010

Shadow Muppetry

Planning something involving shadow puppets coming to life and, lo and behold, discovered this: an incredibly rough test I did ages ago to see if the thing even worked at all in principle.

Well it does... sort of. With a bit of effort and motion tracking to make it look less tacked on it could be something.

Tuesday 21 September 2010

Going on is Going Out

Finally I'm uploading "Going On", a mini pilot of a sketch show based around an arts magazine show, which the aged among you will remember me filming way back when.

I'll be splitting it for the time poor but if you've got a whopping 9 minutes 55 seconds to spare the whole thing is over here at my ramshackle Vimeo emporium.

For the rest of you here's the first part of three.

Retro

If you're in Brighton tomorrow (that's the seventh fact fans) head on over to the Cornerstone on Elm Grove because those lovely people at Son Of Moviebar are showing a retrospective of stuff by Kirk and Messingham including Lord Tunley helmed laugh riot "Brothers".

Saturday 4 September 2010

I'm pretty excited...

...and so should you be, about the next film from Lord Tunley cohort Ben Wheatley, following on from "Down Terrace", the breakout no-budget flick that I have banged on about around these parts in the past (still available on DVD folks).

Head on over to Mr Wheatley's blog if you haven't been recently for some eye popping location pics.

Mini Car Car

Quick test of a floating car outside a window for a viral which by a wild coincidence features a floating car outside a window.

Doesn't the mini look good? That's 'cos I downloaded it.

Tuesday 31 August 2010

Flight Club

Two men and a child's toy. What could possibly go wrong?

A lot as it turns out.

We convened at a local park to shoot some pretty simple footage for another viral armed with a camera and this bad boy:

We naively assumed that a remote control plane would actually fly and be remotely controllable but clearly that's a stupid assumption. It soon turned out that getting the thing airborne was really difficult and keeping it in the air was nigh on bloody impossible.

After almost three hours of repeatedly recreating the opening scene from Lost in miniature and being laughed at by passing joggers, dog walkers and park based maniacs she finally flew - YES! -  only to land up in the nearest tree - NO!

Back to the drawing board.

Sunday 29 August 2010

Boys With Toys

It's for a thing.

Honest.

Friday 27 August 2010

You Spin Me Round

If you think you're sick of seeing endless versions of this godforsaken flying saucer, think how I feel.

Still, nice to see it in motion.

Promise I won't bother you about it until the viral itself is finished.

Thursday 26 August 2010

Telekinetic Josh

So ... we made this little viral as a quick palette cleanser between bouts of UFO related misery.

Not exactly "Carrie" but it only took a couple of hours from start to finish.

Saturday 21 August 2010

Taking a short break from my UFO woes to do some tests with the steadfast Josh Topp:

This is for a different viral - it involves a fork.

Thursday 19 August 2010

Buttons

Somewhere amongst these buttons...

or these...

or indeed these...

is the button (or combination of buttons) that stops my lovely flying saucer becoming F**KING INVISIBLE when I try and put it into the footage where it's supposed to be.

And yes I have tried turning it on and off again.

Bah.

Tuesday 17 August 2010

Crinkly Bottom

Adding bits of texturing now.

The End is in sight.

Sunday 15 August 2010

UFOn and On and On...

Back at the grindstone good and proper now. The UFO is coming along a bit since way back when...

It now has a few dashes of colour.

Magic. But damn! the 3d the process is sloooooow. It's like that bit in Wizard Of Oz where Dorothy steps out into Oz and it's all in colour and shit - if Wizard Of Oz was slowed down to a painful one frame a day.

Looking a bit nicer though.

Down Hill From Here

One week to go before kids telly releases me from it's grip.

Meantime: here's a page from the Sunday Times that makes very positive noises about a tiny british film called "Down Terrace" that I have banged on about alarmingly in the past for no other reason than I'm in it (and it's brilliant).

clicky clicky to read it.

Tuesday 15 June 2010

Turns out acting in children's telly is a gruelling tour of duty... who knew? So that's why I have been playing dead for a while.

Meantime check out friend of Lord Tunley Waen Shepherd's new site.

Waen did the music for "Mainstage" and "Going On" (still not posted while it does the round of tv people but imminent I promise) and still finds time to be an all round live comedy powerhouse.

Back very soon with more new stuff...

Sunday 16 May 2010

Ana And The Forest

Now then... here's a little thing I shot a week or so back for Barunka O'Shaughnessy and Laura Lawson and much of the cast of School Of Comedy.

That's Rufus Jones there that is.

Tuesday 11 May 2010

Cannes Do

Apparently the small french town of Cannes has a film festival on at this time of year. Obviously I am above such triflings.

But: if you want the inside goss then check out this new blog from Lord Tunley friend Jacqui Barr who will be at the festival in her capacity as a proper film person.
